flip - disability equality in the arts

Which logo?

wheelchair symbols

Here at flip we often get asked about symbols.  Which ones to use and which ones to avoid.  When is comes to wheelchair symbols they can vary widely from turning a person into a wheelchair to showing that a person is actually using a wheelchair.  And where do we tend to see these symbols most?  On plaques at side door entrances, on buses and often most frequently on bathroom doors and signage?

Recently in Lisbon, I came across this interesting version on an accessible toilet door.  The ladies and gents were similarly made up of a composite of female and male symbols.   This is fun and somewhat irreverent.  It is also a great example of the variety of symbols out there.

I know which my favourites are.  And please, no comments about the exciting things I get up to on holiday.
